Gwyneth Paltrow has long been as famous for her commitment to healthy living as her gift for acting – if naming your child Apple doesn’t scream “health fan” what else does? Gwyneth has a range of great juice recipes to her name and this green machine is one you can’t live without.

Made of cucumber, basil and lime juice, Gwyneth’s recipe serves one person:

  • ½ lime, with the pith and zest removed
  • 1 apple, which is cut into wedges
  • 1 cucumber, sliced in half lengthways
  • 1 tablespoon of basil leaves

A zesty ginger number that’s perfect for expectant mummies

Pregnancy is one of the joys of life. Having a growing baby bouncing inside your tummy fills you with warmth and pride. But do you know what? Pregnancy also sucks. You wake up sick, with aching muscles, and crippling menstrual pain. Well, not any more you won’t! This zesty ginger number is perfect for soothing the aches and pains of expectant mummies.

Along with ginger, your zesty juice contains lemon, carrots, and apples:

1/4 peeled lemon

1/2 inch fresh ginger

2 medium apples, which is cut into eighths

5 unpeeled carrots

Ginger’s healing qualities have been known and used for centuries. Ginger helps treat nausea, reduces muscle pain and soreness, and helps soothe menstrual pain. Mummies, it’s the juice you can’t live without!

Never skip the most important juice of the day – breakfast

You know it, I know it, your friends and family know it too – breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The trouble with breakfast is that many people don’t have the time or sanity in the morning to have a proper one. Having breakfast juice solves those problems.

Your breakfast juice is loaded with goodness:

½ avocado

½ cucumber

1 apple

1 teaspoon chia seeds

1 teaspoon protein powder

1 handful of spinach

250ml coconut water

Juice of 1 orange

To make life as simple and quick as possible, you can get your ingredients ready the night before and then throw them into a household juicer before you jump in the shower. Swap your morning coffee for a breakfast juice and you’ll feel great throughout the day.

Cure the booze blues with a detox juice

Hangovers are the enemy of productivity and the revenge of a good night out. But unless you’re one of the lucky few, hangovers happen to anyone who enjoys a drink. Taking paracetamol before bed helps, but you can boost your recovery a morning detox juice.

This detox juice is full of all the essential nutrients your body needs to recover from a hangover – lycopene, water, and vitamin C:

1/4 large cucumber

1/2-inch piece ginger

1 jalapeño pepper, seeded

1 lemon

2 celery stalks

3 tomatoes

While a hangover juice won’t completely cure your booze blues (only not drinking in the first place will do that) it’s a great way to fight against the pain.

Juice blends can soothe pain, make you healthier, and tackle the dreaded hangover.

Get yourself a juicer, start your day with the breakfast recipe, then pick whichever of the other three you need to be your best self.
