With all of the skin-cleansing products and DIY facials available on the market these days, we seem to have forgotten one thing: that what you eat and drink can have a huge impact on your skin’s health.
Smoothies are a great way to help you achieve glowing skin. Not only do smoothies taste great, but they also give you the nutrients you need to nourish your skin — keeping it clear, glowing and gorgeous.
Check out the post below for four delicious smoothie recipes that will give you beautiful skin.
1. The Cool As A Cucumber
This healthy green concoction will have your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated in next to no time.
Cucumbers are incredible for your skin because they are full of vitamins and antioxidants (and low in calories!). Cucumbers also have soothing anti-inflammatory properties, which can really help if you’re dealing with flushed or puffy skin.
Combined with spinach for some added vitamin A, iron and potassium — for healthy-looking skin and shiny hair — and you’re onto a winner.
1 ½ cups of spinach
1 tbsp lemon or lime juice
1 cup of water or apple juice to taste
1 sprig of mint
1 tsp honey to taste (if you want to sweeten your smoothie)
Finishing touch: Just pop into your blender and blitz your way to glowing skin goodness!
2. The Berry Beauty
If you didn’t know, blueberries are a superfood. That means there’s a lot of power packed into these tiny berries! With oodles of antioxidants and vitamins, blueberries can increase circulation to your face, making you look more youthful and brightening up dull, tired-looking skin.
That’s why blueberries are the perfect star ingredient for our Berry Beauty Smoothie.
We’ve also added raspberries and strawberries for an extra hit of vitamin C. This most nourishing of vitamins is amazing for your skin — simultaneously protecting you from sun damage and tackling acne damage, wrinkles and fine lines.
1 cup blueberries
1 cup raspberries
½ cup strawberries
½ cup of vanilla yoghurt
½ cup of water or non-dairy milk to taste
1 tbsp chia seeds (if you want to make your smoothie a bit more filling)
Finishing touch: Garnish with a sprig of mint and some fresh berries to finish!
3. The Sunshine Smoothie
Mangoes and carrots are both extremely good for your skin. That’s because they’re rich in vitamins A, C and E, not to mention plenty of beta-carotene. Beta-carotene converts into Vitamin A in the body and helps to protect, repair and renew your skin cells — keeping your complexion fresh and dewy.
That’s why we’ve created the Sunshine Smoothie; perfect for injecting a bit of summer into your life and helping you to achieve glowing skin. Did we mention it’s also delicious?
1 fresh mango (or 1 cup of frozen mango)
1 tsp freshly grated ginger
1 tbsp lemon or lime juice
1 cup of water or coconut water to taste
Finishing touch: Add ice to the mix to cool down on a hot summer day!
4. The Green-eyed Monster
So-called because it will leave all of your friends green with envy at your gorgeous glowing skin, this smoothie is a keeper.
The main ingredient is kale, while has some incredible skin-nourishing properties. Like all leafy greens, kale is rich in antioxidants and vitamins which helps to keep your skin clear and healthy.
Add an apple full of vitamin C to help build collagen, plus some low-calorie, anti-inflammatory celery sticks, and you’ve got a winning recipe!
1 bunch of kale (Remove kale stems and tear up roughly)
2 sticks of celery
1 cup of water or unsweetened non-dairy milk to taste
Finishing touch: If you really want to boost the health levels of your super green smoothie, add one teaspoon of spirulina — it’ll reduce premature signs of ageing and give you a more youthful complexion.
